How to Apply for an E-Passport Online Registration

Make sure that an e-passport is available at your local passport office. You can check the list of e-passport offices on the e-Passport website.

The following steps will explain how to apply for an e-Passport online in Bangladesh:

Step 1: Create an Account

Create an account on the Bangladesh E‑Passport Online Registration Portal (epassport.gov.bd). You can do this by providing your email address, a password, and your personal information.

  1. If you apply from within the country, tick the YES button and mention the district and police station below to proceed to the next step.
  2. Do human verification with your email and press the continue button.
  3. Create a 6-digit password for account creation (Create a strong password with lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and special characters)
  4. You have to create an account and Bangladesh will send a verification link to your email from the e-Passport portal, click to verify and login with the email and password provided in the e-passport portal.

Please Note: Write your full name as per your National Identity Card (NID) or Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) where there is Full Name in the below personal information. Give the first part of your name in Given Name (if the name has 3 parts like “MR RAJU AHAMED” then give the first 2 parts in Given Name). Dot (.), dash (-), deceased parent’s name (Late), title (Dr. Ing.) cannot be written in the name.

Step 2: Passport Type

After creating an Account, Sign-In to your account and click on “Apply for a new e‑Passport” to start the e-passport application.

Step 3: Personal Information

Enter your personal information, including your name, gender, date of birth, place of birth, and citizenship status.

Step 4: Address

  • Permanent address: Enter your permanent address in the following order:
    1. District
    2. City/Village/House
    3. Road/Block/Sector (if applicable)
    4. Post office
    5. Police station
  • Present address: Enter your current address. You can check the box below if your permanent and present addresses are the same.

For ePassport applications, you must provide your current address for police verification. You must also apply for your passport at the RPO/Regional Passport Office that is responsible for your current address. Otherwise, your passport application will be rejected.

When complete, click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Step 5: ID Documents

  • If you have a previous passport, you must indicate whether it is an MRP or an ePassport. If you have an MRP or an ePassport, you must click on the appropriate option and provide the information about your previous passport.
  • In the “Reissue reason” option, indicate the reason for the reissue. Below, enter your previous passport number, issue date, and expiry date.
  • If you do not have a passport or if you have a handwritten passport, click on the “NO” option and enter your NID number below. Then, click on “Save and Continue”.
  • The “Do you have passports of other countries?” option is for people who have obtained Bangladeshi citizenship.

    2. Select your father’s profession. If your father is deceased, select “OTHER”.
    3. Select your father’s nationality. If your father is a non-Bangladeshi citizen, select the nationality of his country of origin.
    4. Enter your father’s NID number (optional).
  • Mother information
    1. Enter your mother’s name as it appears on her NID card.
    2. Select your mother’s profession. If your mother is deceased, select “OTHER”.
    3. Select your mother’s nationality. If your mother is a non-Bangladeshi citizen, select the nationality of her country of origin.
    4. Enter your mother’s NID number (optional).
  • Guardian information
    1. This is only for minors who do not have both parents alive or who have been adopted or have a guardian other than their parents.
    2. Enter the guardian’s name, profession, nationality, and NID number.

When complete, click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Step 7: Spouse information

You should go to the passport office on that day in the morning and line up. The Ansar member or the person sitting at the reception will tell you which counter to go to. You should arrange the necessary documents in the following order:
